Slow charging speed and short range are the main factors restricting the development of electric vehicles.Black phosphorus is the allotrope of white phosphorus. Its special layered structure gives it strong ion conduction ability and theoretically high charge capacity. It is a promising electrode material with "quick charge".Researchers in China and the United States recently created a new type of black phosphorus composite material by making electrodes out of a black phosphorus composite material and using a thin polymer gel as a dust-proof coat.Laboratory measurements show that the electrode can recover about 80% of its charge after 9 minutes of charging, and retain 90% of its charge capacity after 2000 cycles. The designed lithium-ion batteries may have the advantages of fast charging, high charge capacity and long life. The study is in the journal Science
